Who better to wear the Miss Nebraska’s Outstanding Teen crown than a die-hard Husker fan who eats Runza weekly? Carsyn Long took the 2017 state title in Omaha on April 22, 2017. It was then she said she officially knew what her biggest accomplishment, and honor, was in her short 17 years: bringing the MNEOTeen title back to the western half of the Cornhusker State.
A Gering native, Carsyn is the oldest of three children, and the only girl, to parents Courtney and Ryan Long. The family is no stranger to being a busy household, though. For a time, the Longs were a foster family to a teenage boy. It’s an experience that greatly shaped Carsyn and her brothers, and inspired her platform.
Carsyn is using her year to travel the entire state, sharing her talent of singing, and preparing and providing Blessing Bags to foster families and various organizations in communities across the state.
Along with philanthropic endeavors associated with the MNEOTeen title, Carsyn plans to remain an active leader in her school as an honor student and a two-time state titleholder in speech. The busy teenager says she knows the importance of balancing her studies with her passions, and plans to put just as much effort into each of her activities as she has in the past. Now, she’ll do it wearing the crown!
