FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 15, 2018

Kool-Aid Days competition will crown two young women, award them cash and prizes

Organizers are currently accepting applications from young women interested in competing for the titles of Miss Kool-Aid Days and Miss Kool-Aid Days Outstanding Teen. The event will take place Sunday, July 29th at 6:00pm at Hastings High School and is open to the public.

Miss Kool-Aid Days will be awarded $500 in cash scholarships and qualify to compete for the title of Miss Nebraska 2019 next summer, the official state preliminary for the Miss America Organization. A $100 cash scholarship will be awarded to the 1st Runner Up. The current Miss Kool-Aid Days, Nikki-Catrina Anderson, has won more than $5,250 in cash scholarships through the Miss Nebraska Scholarship Program.

Miss Kool-Aid Days Outstanding Teen will be awarded a $500 scholarship and will go on to represent the Hastings area at the 2019 Miss Nebraska’s Outstanding Teen competition. A $100 scholarship will be awarded to the 1st Runner Up. Emily Lenser, the current Miss Kool-Aid Days Outstanding Teen, placed as the 1st Runner Up to Miss Nebraska’s Outstanding Teen last April and has earned significant scholarship support for her college education thus far in the program.

“Miss Kool-Aid Days and Miss Kool-Aid Days Outstanding Teen are really special, local titles,” said Brooke Ludemann, a former Miss Nebraska’s Outstanding Teen and Miss Nebraska finalist, now the Co-Executive Director of the Miss Kool-Aid Days Outstanding Teen program. “Not only will our titleholders have the opportunity to compete at Miss Nebraska and Miss Nebraska’s Outstanding Teen, but they will also spend the year representing the Hastings Community and Kool-Aid across Nebraska. The Kool-Aid Days festival is a highlight of their year of service, and is unique to this pageant!”

Both programs are also accepting applications for Little Sisters between the ages of 6-12. These children will partner with contestants, take part in a Little Sister Workshop during the day on July 29 to learn a dance and meet their Big Sisters competing. Cost is $25, which includes a T-shirt, crown and tickets for the competition. Click here for more information.
