Miss Nebraska State Fair/Miss Heartland Competition to award cash scholarships and public opportunities
Organizers are currently accepting applications from young women interested in competing for the titles of Miss Nebraska State Fair and Miss Heartland, winning cash scholarships and qualifying to compete at the 2019 Miss Nebraska Competition. The event will take place Saturday June 30th at 7:00pm at the College Park Theatre in Grand Island and is open to the public.
Each titleholder will be awarded $750 in cash scholarships and qualify to compete for the title of Miss Nebraska 2019 next summer, the official state preliminary for the Miss America Organization. Cash scholarships will also be awarded to the 1st Runner Up, and winners of the Overall Talent Award and Overall Interview Award.
Past winners include Allison Tietjen, who went on to win the title of Miss Nebraska 2017 and compete at Miss America. Tietjen earned more than $27,000 in cash scholarships in her time competing with the Miss Nebraska Scholarship Program. At the 2018 Miss Nebraska Competition, contestants were awarded an estimated $70,000 in cash scholarships, prizes and services, and offered more than $1.4 million in in-kind college scholarships.
“We know there are incredible young women living and working throughout the state who would excel as Miss Nebraska State Fair or Miss Heartland!” said Program Director, Shelly Penner. “We offer some wonderful opportunities for our titleholders to perform, grow as individuals, and serve the community!”
