The Miss Nebraska Organization has begun a transition to a new Executive Director, as current Executive Director Rachel Daly intends to step down following the 2019 Miss America competition next month. Megan Doughty, longtime Vice President and Scholarships Chair, has been named Co-Executive Director.
This transition has been positive, promising, and openly communicated with all involved, and we hope to continue that transparency with you, our local titleholders, local boards, and program supporters. Rachel and her husband, Tyler, have long discussed plans for Rachel to prioritize her pharmaceutical career and her life at home with their young family. After much consideration, the Dalys know the time has come to take this exciting next step. Rachel will continue to advise Miss Nebraska Jessica Shultis and accompany her to Miss America; upon her return home, Megan will become sole Executive Director. The Miss Nebraska Board will then vote on a new Co-Executive Director to work with Megan, if they have not done so prior to Rachel’s ‘retirement’.
Megan has been a crucial figure in the Miss Nebraska Organization’s efforts over the last several years to boost scholarship amounts, bring on new collegiate and university partners, and to expand our North Platte relationships and partnerships. A North Platte native, she is an ideal leader to transition to the role of Executive Director, working closely with our Miss Nebraska in preparation for Miss America and in her duties throughout her year of service. In addition, we are confident in the strength, camaraderie and direction of a cohesive state Board and outstanding network of local volunteers to help support Megan and Miss Nebraska this year and in the future.
Rachel has without question helped both the Miss Nebraska Scholarship Program and Miss Nebraska’s Outstanding Teen program evolve and grow through her service over the last decade. Perhaps the most powerful evidence of her impact is in the lifelong friendships she has established with each state titleholder she has worked with, and the impact they have had on countless lives thanks, in part, to Rachel’s leadership. We are deeply grateful for the passion and service she has given to our program.
